Rewards and Benefits of Reciting Surah Baqarah
Every surah of Quran has its own virtues, merits and benefits. Like Surah Yaseen is called the heart of the Quran. Surah Rehman is called Al-Aroos ul Quran. Similarly in my perception, Surah Baqarah is a summary of whole Quran.
Surah Baqarah is a Madni Surah (was revealed on Muhammad PBUH when he was in Medina). It is second surah of Quran and called the longest surah with 286 ayahs. It is also called the most powerful surah of Quran.
Surah Baqarah is most important and powerful surah also because it is containing most influential ayah “Ayat ul Kursi”. Ayat ul Kursi is called the most prestigious and honorable ayah of Quran.
Holy Prophet Muhammad PBUH said once,
“For everything there is a hump and the hump of the Quran is Surah Baqarah. In it there is an Ayah which is the master of the ayahs in the Quran that is Ayat ul Kursi”.

This magnificent ayah discussed the attributes of Allah SWT. It is memorized in early age of Muslims and saved in the hearts of almost all the Muslims. Prophet Muhammad SAW described the virtues of Ayat ul Kursi many times. Once he PBUH said,
“Whoever recites Ayat ul Kursi immediately after each prescribed prayer, there will be nothing standing between him and his entering paradise except his death”
That is why we should make it obligatory to recite Ayatul Kursi after ever Salah.
It is the credit of Surah Al-Baqarah that its last two ayahs were reveled when Prophet Muhammad SAWW was out of this physical world. Allah SWT presented last two ayahs of this surah when he PBUH went on Mairaj.
This surah also describes the stories of messengers of Allah who arrived before Prophet PBUH. There are a lot of moral lessons, guidelines about life, Islamic laws, social limitations and other honorable teachings for Muslims in this surah.

Benefits of Reciting Surah Baqarah
It is not possible to calculate the virtues, blessings and benefits any of the surah of Quran. Here we will come to know about some of the salient features and benefits of Surah Baqarah.
- A house where Surah Baqarah is recited is free from Satan. Hazrat Abu Hurairah narrates that once Holy Prophet PBUH said,
“Do not turn your houses into graves, verily, shaitan doesn’t enter the house where Surah Baqarah is recited”

- Surah Baqarah brings countless blessings from Allah SWT into the house of its reader.
- It is a source of protecting you from evil eyes, witchcraft and other things that bring spiritual illness.
- The last two verses of Surah Baqarah have great benefits. Almost all the Muslims memorize these two verses. Prophet Muhammad SAWW said,
“Whoever recites the last two verses of Surah Al-Baqarah by night that will suffice him”
(Bukhari)
- Recitation of Surah Baqarah will give great rewards on the Day of Judgment.
- A very helpful set of rules is provided in Surah Baqarah. Briefly instructions about ‘Haram and Halal’ provides us ways to be close to Allah SWT.
- Allah SWT presented the stories sections in Surah Baqarah about Bani Israel. We should learn from there. We should make a commitment to not to repeat those mistakes.
- Surah Baqarah contains the most powerful ayah, Ayatul Kursi. The recitation of Ayatul Kursi gives us protection from every harmful thing and sheytan as well. When we recite it at night, Allah send angles to protect our home. And when we recite it while going outside, angles walk with us for our protection from any kind of accidental things.
