The Best Way to Make Dua for Job
In Islam, struggling for a livelihood by the commands of Allah Almighty is a great virtuous deed. Even this is ranked as Jihaad. When any Muslim works hard to meet the financial needs of his family via permissible means, Allah makes him His friend. For this reason, making dua for the job is also a pious deed. We should make dua for job as well along with the struggling for a job. Dua for the job has two parts: first dua for finding a good job, and second dua for success and ease at the job.
Islamic Criteria of a Good Job
Islamic teachings require three prerequisites to make a job a good one for both men and women. These three conditions include:
Islam
A job should not be against the basic teachings and ideology of Islam. All jobs coming within the ambit of Islamic teachings are permissible except those which are prohibited. For example job in a factory preparing alcoholic beverages is Haram because it is against the Islamic commandments. Similarly, a job in trading narcotic substances is also not permissible in Islam. So before we start to find a job, we should make dua for a job that is permissible in Islam. Otherwise, the earning of a job that does not promise the implementation of Islamic principles will be Haram.
Eeman
Eeman is the second condition of a good job. It implies doing a job with all honesty and sincerity. If we do a permissible job considering the aforementioned condition, but we do not perform job responsibilities with honesty, the earnings of such job will also be Haram. For example, anyone has a job at a medical store and sells medicines that are injurious to health only because to make the store owner happy, he is doing his job in a haram way and the earnings from this job will also be haram.
Haya
This condition necessitates the workstation be decent and respectable for both men and women. It discourages all which makes the workplace unmannerly especially for female workers. Things that make a workplace impudent may include audacious uniforms, odd job timing, eco-environment for male and female workers, indecent job responsibilities for female workers, and some others. If doing a job is necessary for women, they should make efforts and dua for the job that is suitable for them considering the respect and admiration that Islam gives to them.
Doing Efforts and Dua for Job
Job hunting is a stressful task especially when we are under financial pressure. But when we make dua for the job and make efforts to hunt for a job that is up to the criteria of a good job as stated above, then Allah Almighty helps us achieve our goal of finding a job. In this way job, the hunt becomes more than just finding means to meet financial needs. Rather it becomes one of the most favorite virtuous deeds before our Creator.
We know that dua makes difficult things easier for us. We also know that when we add an intention of pleasing Allah (SWT) to an act that we otherwise have to do for our social or financial needs, then that act comes within the ambit of virtuous acts. So, we should make our job a virtuous act so that Allah (SWT) may shower His blessings upon our efforts.
Best Dua for Job
Many recommended duas for different purposes are stated in the Holy Quran and some are provided by Holy Sunnah, but we can say that there is no specific dua for job exclusively. Still, there are some authentic Wazaaef to earn a livelihood.
The daily recitation of Surah Waqea saves us from the financial crisis. This may be the best dua for the job. In the Holy Quran, there are many dua’s for success and ease in life. These all can be recited for success in a job as well. Some of these are given here:
“Rabbi-‘shrah li sadri wa yassirli amri wa-hlul ‘uqdatan min lisani yafqahu qawli.”
O, my Lord! Expand for me my breast [with assurance] and ease for me my task and untie the knot from my tongue that they may understand my speech. (Ta-Ha: 25-28)
wa maa tawfeeqeee illaa billaah; ‘alaihi tawakkaltu wa ilaihi uneeb
My success in this task depends entirely on the help of Allah; in Him do I trust and to Him do I turn for everything. (Hud: 88)
Rabbana atina fid dunya hasanatan wa fil Aakhirati hasanatan waqina ‘adhaban-nar
Our Lord! Give us in this world [that which is] good and in the Hereafter [that which is] good and protect us from the punishment of the Fire. (Al-Baqarah: 201)
Some Important Tips for Job Success
Along with the efforts and dua for the job, there are some guidelines essentially to be followed for success at the job. Some of these are given below:
Be Punctual and Vigilant
Success waits for those who remain active and vigilant. Lazy employees can neither secure their jobs nor get promotions. Punctuality, vigilance, and discipline are the basic tools to make an employee successful. These qualities all together add value to the work which consequently ensures the success of the employee.
Be Professional
Maintain workplace decorum and don’t indulge in bad practices like backbiting, gossip with colleagues, nonproductive talks on useless topics, and other such activities. Bring professionalism in the way you talk, the appearance you wear, and the manner you deal.
Be Honest With Your Job Responsibilities
“Honesty is the best policy” is the well-settled rule of success on the job. The honest efforts of an employee outshine him among others. Do not work for salary; rather show sincerity and honesty to take the company to the next level.
